This thermostat is compatible with forced air (gas, oil, or electric), hot water and steam systems, as well as heat pumps with electric backup. It is not compatible with electric baseboard heat systems (120-240V) and requires a C-wire for installation. For systems with heat/cool oil furnaces, the Smart Color Thermostat is suitable, but it will not work with heating-only oil furnace systems unless a C-wire is present. Fan control options include On (fan always on), Automatic (fan runs when heating or cooling system is on), and Circulate (fan runs randomly about 35% of the time).
